Jace Jung is an American professional baseball second baseman in the Detroit Tigers organization. He played college baseball for the Texas Tech Red Raiders.
Jung was born in San Antonio, Texas, and attended MacArthur High School. He was a two-sport star in high school, playing baseball and basketball. As a senior, Jung was named the District 28-6A MVP in baseball and basketball.
Jung committed to Texas Tech University to play baseball in 2018. He redshirted his freshman season in 2019. In 2020, Jung made his collegiate debut, appearing in 19 games with 16 starts. He hit .304 with three home runs and 14 RBIs.
In 2021, Jung had a breakout season. He hit .372 with 17 home runs and 64 RBIs. He was named to the All-Big 12 First Team and was a semifinalist for the Golden Spikes Award.
Jung was drafted by the Detroit Tigers with the 12th overall pick in the 2022 Major League Baseball draft. He signed with the Tigers for $3.8 million.
Jung is a left-handed hitter and thrower. He is 6 feet 0 inches tall and weighs 205 pounds. He is considered to be a well-rounded prospect with power, speed, and a strong arm. He is projected to be a middle infielder at the major league level.
